Our Psychologists have been selected for their ability to understand their client’s therapeutic needs and to deliver evidence-based treatment to meet those needs. We employ Psychologists and Clinical Psychologists with specialist training, skills and experience to treat complex psychological trauma injuries. Our Psychologists can also identify chronic maladaptive patterns of behaviour that hinder a person’s ability to feel connected with others and with their own emotions.
We employ Psychologists with specialised skills in treating Trauma, PTSD, Anger, Panic, Anxiety and Depression. Members of our team can see children (from the age of 10 years old), teenagers or adults for individual counselling or couples counselling.
At Kinship Psychology, our primary goal is to help our clients form healthy meaningful relationships and address any barriers that prevent them from doing so. We are driven by a core belief that how a person feels about themselves makes all the difference. We believe that our relationship with others is where our self-worth is derived from. Our organisation’s name not only expresses our core value, it also helps to remind us why we do what we do each day. As team members, our professional relationships with each other and the therapeutic relationships we develop with our clients contributes to our own feelings of self-worth.
The concept of Kinship Psychology reflects the innate nature of human connection. Historically for humans, our kinship was fundamental to our survival and is therefore rooted deep in our nervous system. Kinship is universal and evident across ancient cultures. We believe that not only is our sense of connection with our family important, so is the connection to our own emotions, our sense of purpose and to our other loved ones, including mates, comrades, colleagues and our community. We recognise that the barriers people encounter when seeking connection are rarely their choice, but more an outcome of past experiences and perceptions outside of their control.
Using evidence-based paradigms (therapies) and well-developed skills in assessment and processes, our Clinicians aim to quickly identify therapeutic goals, barriers to these goals and appropriate interventions to address those barriers. We deliver time-framed episodes of care that are adapted as required to meet the client’s needs. We allocate clients based on their needs and the relevant skill set of our Clinicians. If you’re feeling anxious, depressed, disconnected, down or simply not how you want to feel, we invite you to make contact with us to discuss how best to access our counselling service.
