All Counselling services are exempt from GST and payments are made on the day of consultation, typically by credit or debit card.
Some client presentations require specialist skills and services, in which case an appropriately qualified Psychologist will be offered. Specialist interventions may attract a higher fee, which will be discussed with you prior to the commencement of your treatment. After applying Medicare rebates however, the resultant ‘gap fee’ is often equivalent across all of our services.
Fees for a standard session of individual counselling range from $200 to $242 per 50-minute session.
Fees for a standard session of couples counselling are $260 per 50-minute session.
The fee charged by your allocated Psychologist will be confirmed with you prior to your first session.
A referral from your General Practitioner (GP), Paediatrician or Psychiatrist is required to access Medicare rebates for psychological counselling.
If you plan to use private health insurance or pay privately in full for your treatment, you do not need a referral to access our services.
Medicare rebates are available for counselling services provided under a Mental Health Care Plan.
A Mental Health Care Plan is completed by your GP and provides access to Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual sessions and 10 group therapy sessions per person, per calendar year. These sessions can be conducted face to face or via online video counselling.
Your referring GP will schedule a return visit to review your progress after the first six psychological therapy sessions. At this point, your GP will provide a re-referral for an additional four sessions, if required.
As of 01/11/2023, Medicare will rebate:
$137.05 per standard consultation with a Clinical Psychologist
$93.35 per standard consultation with a General Psychologist
We submit your Medicare patient claim on the day of processing the fee for your consultation. Rebates are then paid by Medicare directly to your bank account, usually within a few days.
We proudly acknowledge the service of all Australian Veterans and will work with you and DVA for you to access our counselling service. If you already hold a DVA White Card or Gold Card, please ask your GP to consider referring you for counselling with Kinship Psychology.
Please consult with the Department or your GP for further information.
Private health insurers may provide rebates for Psychology services – please confirm your level of cover with your insurance provider.
Clinical Psychology consultation fees may be covered in the case of a workers compensation or Motor Vehicle Injury claim. Please consult with your workers compensation insurer or employer for more information.
