Dr Denise Parker

PhD, MPsych (Clinical Psychology)

Denise completed her Master of Clinical Psychology and Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Western Australia.  Alongside her work at Kinship, Denise holds a position with the Department of Health working therapeutically with children, adolescents and families.  Denise has experience working with clients of all ages and various clinical presentations.  She uses evidence-based treatments to assist clients who are experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, trauma and attachment related disorders, complex grief, stress and adjustment difficulties.

We value Denise’s ability to understand her clients’ stories to then help them move closer to how they want to feel.  She uses Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mentalisation Based Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as her primary modalities.  However, it is her gentle approach and her ability to attune and connect with others that we admire most.

Denise brings genuine curiosity, warmth and empathy to her work.  Helping to foster trust and rapport as she takes time to comprehensively explore each individual’s felt-experience.  She aims to provide clients with a deeper understanding about themselves and their behaviours and how these relate to their emotions, without judgement. Denise’s hope is that clients feel they are supported in a collaborative way that draws on their own strengths to meet personalised goals.
